Horizon announces two world premieres at Drupa

14 March 2024

The finishing machine manufacturer Horizon wants to surprise Drupa visitors with two world premieres. A new perfect binder and a new brochure production system have been announced, which will be on display at the 1,600 m² trade fair stand.

In addition, Horizon presents fully automated systems and consistent workflows, supplemented by robotics and various transport systems. The link here is both the cloud-based workflow management service iCE Link and Horizon's collaboration with industry partners.

In eight live presentations every day, visitors to stand F21 in Hall 6 will experience fully automatic systems that fit seamlessly into networked production lines and are designed to harmonize with both offset and digital printing.

Book production

In the area of perfect binding, Horizon presents systems for inline book production of small to medium runs. Both roll processing and cut sheet applications will be shown, some with direct connection to digital printing systems. In addition, the further processing of conventional signatures is used - both to produce softcover books and book blocks for hardcover production. In order to demonstrate automated processes like in a smart factory, previously folded signatures are stacked by a palletizing robot and transported by an AGV for further processing - without manual intervention.

Fully automatic brochure production

With the StitchLiner series, job changes with different booklet thicknesses are shown without makeready times. Various feed systems can be used to process digitally printed rolls, sheets and also conventionally produced printed sheets.

All machines on display will be networked via iCE Link. According to Horizon, the cloud-based workflow service enables not only monitoring the production status of each individual machine in real time, but also preventative maintenance management and sending order data to the machine. To ensure a smooth workflow from prepress to finishing, Horizon maintains close partnerships with all well-known workflow and software specialists
