Digi-Paq installs fourth Screen inkjet label press
9 October 2024
Digi-Paq, a family-owned, Belgian label printing business, has installed a fourth Screen Truepress Label 350SAI-S digital inkjet label press to accommodate with the market demands and its rapid success.
The company began its journey with just two employees and a first-generation Screen Truepress LABEL L350 label press. From these modest beginnings, Digi-Paq has experienced rapid success.
‘We started with one Screen label press in 2017,’ said Christophe Parrein, co-director at Digi-Paq. ‘And because we always want to have the latest technology, we’ve bought six in the last seven years, replacing our older equipment with the latest models. Today, to keep up with all our orders, we have four Truepress Label 350SAI-S UV inkjet presses that operate continuously in two daily shifts.’
The company’s founder, Stefaan Parrein, recognized early on that the future of label production was in digital inkjet printing. Inkjet presses allowed Digi-Paq to meet evolving market demands for consistent quality, flexibility and the ability to produce a wide variety of label designs on short notice. This convinced him that it would be most efficient to invest exclusively in digital label printing equipment from the company’s inception.
Christophe Parrein added: ‘We saw that technology was changing. The conventional production process was effective for a long time, but clients have developed different expectations and new demands. Digital technology responded to those demands and gave us unique selling points. We believed digital would only get bigger, and I think we’ve been proven right.’
According to Frederik Parrein, co-director at Digi-Paq the company’s strategy of investing in digital inkjet was from its inception.
‘After searching, we found that Screen had the best portfolio for our needs,’ said Frederik Parrein. ‘When we approached the company, it did more than supply us with the label presses, it convinced us that not only could its digital label printing solutions fulfil our requirements, but it would ensure we would have a strong start.’
Screen provided comprehensive support throughout the start-up process. Its technical engineers ensured that the color profiles were accurate, tested the image quality, and confirmed that the label production workflow and integration with the finishing equipment were consistent. Additionally, they offered operator training to maximize the label press’s capabilities, free of charge. Together, these efforts enabled Digi-Paq to quickly secure clients and work orders, establishing its presence in the local label production industry and investing in a second press within a year.
‘Since that first press, our professional relationship has only grown, and that’s thanks to how reactive they are to our needs and their thorough technical support,’ added Frederik Parrein.
With Screen’s technology, Digi-Paq has been able to meet the changing demands of its customers, offering faster lead times, consistent colors, print quality and unparalleled flexibility. The chemical and water-resistant inks make that 85 percent of the labels do not require a protective varnish.
Meanwhile, the one-vendor strategy adopted by Digi-Paq has streamlined its production processes, ensuring that all equipment works seamlessly together and making it easier for operators to move between tasks and maximize efficiency.
‘Our growth has been immense, and that’s thanks to our technology,’ commented Christophe Parrein. ‘To find new clients and support our current ones with the best solutions, we’re always looking to adopt the latest label printing technology, and after doing our market research we consistently reached the same conclusion.
‘In seven years, we’ve purchased six Screen presses, not because they are our existing supplier, but due to the unique solutions they can provide and their extensive service and support. It’s been a very successful partnership and we’re expecting more success for both companies in the future.’
