The conclusion of the first journey of ‘Green Santos’, the world’s largest wood pulp vessel, is being celebrated by Suzano, the largest market pulp producer globally, and Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers, one of the largest maritime transportation companies
.

Departing from Santos Port on March 4, the vessel arrived in China on April 9, carrying 72,000 tons of pulp exclusively from Suzano, destined for the Asian market.

The vessel Green Santos capacity optimizes the logistic efficiency, but also contributes to a reduction in carbon footprint per ton transported.

The ship was delivered at the end of 2023 and is part of a fleet of vessels of a similar size that will be delivered this year. The initiative aims to meet the projected increase in pulp exports from Suzano’s mill under construction in Ribas do Rio Pardo (MS). Known as Cerrado Project, the unit will start up operations by June 2024 and will increase Suzano’s total capacity to 13.5 million tons a year. Its production will be shipped from Santos, where the first shipment of Green Santos was made.
